White Rock Regatta Reports
from The Woodlawn Racing Team

The Woodlawn Racing Team was back in action March 18th and 19th at the 2006 Victoria White Rock Cup in Dallas, TX!  Updates on the adventures of our sailing hero's are posted below.

Sunday, March 19th, 2006 - Here comes the water...Normally a couple of feet below the dock, the waters of White Rock Lake were right up to the pier as we strolled out to the club house early Sunday morning.  The rain continued to fall and the waters rose throughout the morning until it was on the verge of coming up through the floor boards of the Corinthian Sailing Club's building!  The dock we sailed off of Saturday was 6 inches under water and logs and ducks easily floated across the board walk.  Our 9am start time was delayed 1-1/2 hours while our hosts evaluated the situation.   The RD stayed home trying to pull apart the wet and matted score sheets and interpreting the smeared ink.  Our film crew from the  Outdoor Life Channel was back wrapped in trash bags.  And yes Ray was back to his old tricks following the hot reporter babe around like a longing puppy dog...  He even had to help her place the "Outdoor Life" sticker on her trash bag raincoat...lol.
By 10:30am we were on the water sailing in front of the Club house.  With the RD away representatives from the "A" fleet directed the "B" fleet races and vies versa.   Sailing went on dispite the rain and floating debris until noon.  I don't have race by race results yet but here's how our top 4 Pirates faired:  JK - 5th, Bud - 6th, Mark - 9th, and Ray - 10th.
In a two day stretch, the White Rock area received 10 to 12 inches of water.  People were being rescued from their homes in the city of Garland which is right next door to the sailing venue.  One of our Louisiana racers even commented that this was more water than they got during Hurricane Katrina...  Team Woodlawn is now safely home and drying out in the Sunny San Antonio/Austin area.   Boats, radios and wet cloths sit in front of fans  spread throughout our homes.  Here is the final score sheet for the White Rock Cup:

Hot Reporter Babe from The Outdoor Channel

Charles Sudduth and Mark Hogan Wade Out To The Corinthian Club House

Saturday, March 18th, 2006 - RAIN, RAIN and you guessed it, MORE RAIN!!!!!  This was the day "one" story of the 2006 White Rock Cup... The morning hours saw seeding races and then two heats before the RD called a halt due to lightning!!!   Racing didn't restart until 2:30pm in the afternoon.
A film crew from the Outdoor Life Channel spent the day filming and interviewing our Victoria top skippers.  Ray Seta ended up hogging the camera and the hot female reporter's attention throughout the day.  That afternoon the hot reporter chick was so cold that she started hugging the coffee pot.  Ray ran to her rescue with his blow dryer to heat her up!  Ray couldn't stand it when the crew wanted to interview his little buddy JK...he ran at the crew screaming JK insults only to be pushed aside for a retake... Ray didn't stop there, at the end of the Craig Mackey interview he yelled out, "You Suck Mackey".
Of the Woodlawn Pirates Mark Hogan took two bullets in "A" fleet today with sails that were literally pulled out of Robert Cummings' trash can the day before.  They just scraped off some old peanut butter and patched the holes with tape!   I know how this sounds but I'm not joking .... lol!!!!   Vickie Stones (Capt. Vickie Vic) who normally resides at the back of "B" fleet made it into the "A" fleet 3 times during the afternoon.  Way to go Vickie!!!!!  John Kuc the only Woodlawn Pirate to ever win the White Rock Cup got knocked down to "B" fleet 3 times. Mondo and Bud consistently did well and kept themselves in "A" fleet.  Ray Seta, who was busy warming the Hot Reporter Babe with his hair dryer nearly missed the last race of the day and ended up making a 50 yard mad dash from the club house to the dock to through his boat into the water.  Problem was that his boat had no hatch!!!   Ray will be starting Sunday's races in "B" fleet and no he didn't get the girl.    Finally, Webmaster Eric and Yankee Tom fought over who was going to do worse at the bottom of "B" fleet.  Man, that was hard to write.
This evening 16 of us gathered for dinner at the Chili's next to the host hotel.  4 more racers came late and sat in a separate section.   The high light of the night was when Yankee Tom screamed at the top of his lungs at a Harley Biker to get out of the way of the TV!!!!!   The perfect shot of a well endowed young lady had just flashed on the screen and the biker dude stepped right in Tom's way!    I was afraid Tom was going to get up and shove the guy but after the third irate scream heard throughout the building the biker dude finally stepped away.    Lucky for that biker dude as he was messing with a bar full of Pirates!!!!
Tomorrow's forecast calls for an 80% chance of thunderstorms!  Lets just hope that doesn't include more lightning...

The race committee has not posted results for day #1.
