Just a quick note to say I hope everyone had a nice Easter Day, dispite this
pesky cold front. As for yesterday at the lake the cold front came in right on
time with both barrels open. After getiing off a total of 6 races all day long
with not much more than just a breath of air, it all ended with the last race
being sailed and survived in with a blast of 20mph of North wind at 4:00 pm on
the nose. As it turned into a survival race and the rain coming in we call the
day and decided to save the clubhouse and the furniture and run for safety. We
did have our entertainment of Bud Garcia having to rescue his
demasted with the resuce boat and loosing an oar at the same time. Bob
Taylor once again had done our Race Committe work and didn't have a
lot of wind to work with all day. This really makes it hard to do this
job! Through out the day with only running a Gold Fleet this year of 10 boats,
JK and John Oliveira were through out the
day running away from the fleet. Seems these new sails that most of us had
purchased and rigged were'nt made for the light to nothing wind. Of course
sometimes lunch is the best part of the WSC's regattas. With all the fajitas
and fixens one could eat, we did not fall short in the food department, in
keeping with our tradition. Thanks to everyone who brought food and desserts
for all of us. Of course someone needs to set all this food and the clubhouse
us, so of course there's Mama Seta, Charlotte and
Paul Kahl on duty for the day. I brought back an old favorite to do
the BBQ duties with Rick Phillips. Thanks to Terry
Lindeman once again for the great trophies. And I can't stop here
without mentioning all the exotic beers brands that folks brought for
registrations. There's still some left in the fridge if you come out soon
enough, it's free for the members anyway. So as we close the 8th
Annual OD-39 Regatta, we can now look foward to the Sunfish
Fiesta Regatta in 2 weeks on the 24th. Please plan on coming out for
this once a year annual event and don't forget to bring your Sunfish and enjoy
the day of racing.
Remember we're sailing R/C now on Tuesday evening till dark!
