2008 Victoria White Rock Cup Regatta
White Rock Lake
March 14th,15th and 16th, 2008

Final Report from Bob Piper
originally submitted to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VictoriaYC/

The final day of the 2008 WRC was sailed in much calmer winds. Today's winds were in the 8-10 range or about half of what Saturday had to offer. This made for all the skippers to get a little bit excited about getting back on the water. It also made the rescue work a little less! While the course was being set, the raffel was held to keep everyone occupied. The raffel included a Victoria kit donated by Mariner Sails here in Dallas, (www.mariner-sails.com) and some kit building items from Mikes hobbies (http://mikeshobbyshop.com) along with other items.  With the thought of a kit and the other items the regatta was able to generate over $300. This money will be donated to the Spina Bifida Association of Dallas in the name of the regatta. This has been an on going part of this regatta since the beginning, and very much appreciated.

Our RD did a great job of making sure the course was not just a drag race. In fact there were at least 3 tacks the boats took to get to the windward mark. The rest of the course was just as fun. This was a skills day instead of a survival day. It allowed for a lot of place changing except for that top spot. Craig Mackey kind of likes it up there. Can he be beat? Of course he can. He did not have all bullets.

So next year come on down to Dallas and give it a try. Until then take a look in the files section for day 2 results under the 2008 White Rock Cup folder. For a complete write up you will see it in your MY later this year.

Day 1 Report from Bob Piper
originally submitted to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VictoriaYC/

We had 32 entries and 28 showed up to sail. And sail we did. I am sure some of you stayed away because you heard that the West Nile virus thing was in Dallas. Well I want to be the first one to tell you that not a single skipper was bit today. Of course that could be because we had winds in the high teens low twenties all day. This made for some fantastic displays of seamanship. Maybe we will post a pictures so you can see some. I did update our folder with today's results....
