going to rest.
Beautiful is the understatement by what we were greeted with in regards
to weather. Sunny sky and warm temps.
Winds from the North West from around 6 with gusts 15 at times.
Great sailing once again by all. Very close finishes by some of
the best and it was great to see. Many new skippers were able to
work their way up to take some of the bullets as well as the day went
on. Micky once again did a great job under some very trying
conditions to set a challenging and long course for all.
The first 3 skipper when all was said and done are as follows:
1st: Chris Macaluso - 38 points
2nd: Hew Hamilton - 40 points
3rd: Al Ross - 42 points
Can you say CLOSE SAILING!!!
Again, a better report will follow with a complete breakdown spreadsheet
of how things went by race. My understanding is that some photos
will also be posted shortly. Stay tuned but not tonight.

Good Morning All.
Well I am going to take a stab at a very quick update on how the event
is going as I have to head back out lakeside and setup for Day 2.
If my numbers are correct we currently have 35 skippers that have joined
us for the 9th annual event. It is indeed a great field and many new
skippers on the water with us which is what this is all about.
Friday afternoon skippers began arriving lakeside and we checked in 25
with as many as 18 boats practicing in a North Easterly wind from around
4 to 8 mph. It was a great day to set up and get to see some old
faces. After check-in many of them headed over to the local
watering hole, Willies Ice House, to catch up with friends and plan for
the days to come.
Saturday morning, skippers were greeted with fresh donuts and coffee
along with a light breeze from the East (NOT A GOOD DIRECTION) but as
soon as the Skippers Meeting began, wind almost as planned turned to a
South Easterly and began to pick up speed. WOW!!! Did I say pick up
speed. Forecast was supposed to be max 6 but we ended up having gusts as
high as 20 at times during the day. This wind just filled in
perfectly and blew, and blew and blew. A challenging course was
immediately set by the RD Micky Peterson and racing began. Current
National Champion Chris Macaluso came to life in these conditions and
began his day 1 dominance. I do not have the full score sheet
right now but I can tell you that he was running away from the field at
times and he just thrives in these conditions. Hew Hamilton
and Geoff Becker were keeping him honest and as day 1 came to a close it
was Chris, Hew and then Geoff. As for the name "Frostbite", this
years temps are in the 50's and sunny with some overcast. A far
cry from years past that is for sure but I can tell you that no one is
complaining. lol...
Day 2 begins shortly and we are expecting winds from the North West at 6
to 8. Only the weather gods know what they have in store for us.
Follow up later and I will let anyone else add to this. Heading to the
lake.
