CJ, Don't worry a montage of Biker Chic photos is being gaurded by Big Ben, our resident "photog master on wheels". Ben is the expert in getting our land base "People Shots", and we're just waiting for the disc. And when website master Eric get them I'm sure he will be inserting them in the mix after hours when baby "Boomvang Gregory" and wife are sleeping. Until then we will just keep looking at out "Team" scores and how the Woodlawn Pirates raped, plundered, and pilaged all newcomer to the Island of St Woodlawn this past weekend......argh!!!!!! Capt. Jack Seta Bring it on at Frostbite!!!!!!

I have been looking at the race results for Saturday and I want to do a couple of heats over again. Can you get everyone that I sailed against to come back? Also I would like an aerial view of all the marks shown on a big screen TV where we skippers can see it while sailing. I know I had some trouble and a few other skippers also had trouble with our depth perception at some of the marks. See if you can get that set up also. Really if you have never been to a regatta at Woodlawn you are missing out. They do it right. From the tent, tables, abundant supply of food, drinks, and help, you just could not ask for anything more. It was also nice the AMYA folks took the time to come out and visit us. They got to see what a region 5 regatta looks like. 30 boats on the water, good shore support, and a family event. I know they went home impressed. Plus the new president took home a commemorative chest to remember the regatta by. How they keep making each year better is beyond me!

Well it is 8:00 am and one week from today we will be at the lake. Many skippers will be getting their boats ready and some of them like me, who have been there before, will be following Mama Seta around to see if she has her famous breakfast tacos ready. For those who have never been there, if you go home from Woodlawn hungry it is your own fault!

CJ, Let me just say that I am in charge of the T-shirt design like every year. This year is special and the design is taken every bit of calender space we need. Let me just say that you will need to bring extra money because you will buy!!!!! Let me also say that by showing this years design might incriminate me!!!! If you can remember last years shirt and my Dos XX's knockoff, you'll understand why I can't post this years shirt! And by the way the stature of limitation is up on that matter. Did I say we we're the Pirates of Woodlawn.....let me just say wait till the shirt......argh!!!!! Capt. Jack

Well Folks, Here We Are With Less Than Two Weeks To Go Till The Start of The 2nd Annual Alamo Classic Victoria Regatta to Be Held In Beautiful San Antonio, Texas on October 7th & 8th.   The Temperatures Are Starting To Cool Down Wonderfully Here and It Will Be Absolutely Perfect In Time for The Classic!   So Far We Have 33 Competitors Registered With Room For 7 More Under Our Self Imposed Cap.  You May Register Electronically At The Following Web Address:   http://www.woodlawnsailingclub.org/ACVRII/registration10.htm    For Those Of You Who Have Already Registered But Not Mailed In Your Payment Please Do So Prior To September 29th to Avoid The Late Registration Fee.  Your Cooperation Is Greatly Appreciated As We Need The Cash In Order To Pay For All The T-Shirts, Food, And Extras That Make A Great Regatta Like The Alamo Classic Possible.

Those Who Attended Last Year’s Inaugural Alamo Classic Victoria Regatta Probably Noticed All The Construction That Was Going On At Woodlawn Lake.  This Year We Reap The Benefits With A Brand New 10 Foot Wide Launching Pier That Will Provide Plenty Of Room For Competitors To Get In And Out Of The Water Quickly.  Our Floating Barge Will Once Again Be Set-Up With Scaffolding To Allow A Clear View For All Competitors.   While On Shore, Skippers Will Have Use Of A 30 x 40 Foot Tent For Boat Set Up And Storage.  Our Patio Will Be Set Up With A Full Awning To Provide Plenty Of Shade For Those Lounging In Between Races.

Those Of You Staying Home This Year Can Monitor the Woodlawn Website at http://www.woodlawnsailingclub.org For All Of The Latest Standings, Pictures And Stories Of This Premium Victoria Event!  Expect Some Audio And Video This Year In Addition To Our Usual Hourly Updates And Photo’s.

And What Of The Curse You Might Ask That The Pirates Put On The Competitors Of Last Years’ Inaugural Alamo Classic Victoria Regatta?    In Order To Lift The Curse Each And Every One Of The Original Cursed Competitors Must Return His Gold Coin To The Isle of Woodlawn For a Grand Curse Lifting Ceremony!   After Registration I Noticed That Some Competitors Were Not Returning So I Contacted A Few To Find Out Why.  To My Amazement I Discovered That These Pirates Had Either Lost Or Spent Their Gold Coins, (Most Probably To Women, Sprits Or Both) And Were Too Embarrassed To Show Up Empty Handed In Front Of Their Pirate Brethren!!!!    This Means That The Curse Will Continue On For Another Year And Our Wayward Pirates Must Now Search The Seven Seas For Their Lost Gold.  To Top It Off Even More Pirates Will Be Joining In The Curse This Year Meaning That Something Special Must Be Done To Prevent Any Further Loss.   The Answer Came Straight From The Theme Of The Pirates 2 Movie In The Form Of A “Chest of Souls”.  Yes A Special Treasure Chest Will Be Made Available To Each Of Our Participating Pirates To Store Their Cursed Gold!  So Remember To Bring Back Your Cursed Coins And No Cheating…..It Must Be The Original Or We Are All Doomed!!!!!!!!!!

I just realized that two weeks from right now I should already be on my way to SA. It seems like the regatta is months away as no one is talking much on the forum. Must be the pirates are really nervous about the new dock. Will they have to move the race site? Will the dock hold the amount of weight we lean mean skippers may put on it? Will a bunch of fishermen try and take over the area on that weekend? Is there anyone out there that still reads this forum? Is Captin Jack still alive and kicking? Will Redbeard bring his little bomb maker to the regatta? These are just a few of the questions we want answers to. We have others. Things like what kind of animal can be used in the chili for the cook off? When is it fair to call for a sportsman like rounding of a mark? Does the skipper doing the rounding have to agree, or can they call for a tactical rounding at any time? Do they even have to call it or can they just protest if they are interfered with? And that all important question, what's your favorite color?

OK dudes! Let me give you my two cents worth of that Glorious Day of Pirate Boom Vang getting to meet his "Godfather" Pirate. Sure Seta Boat Works may of been closed for the afternoon and with good reason with that smell....oooothat smell!!! Just before Boom Vang let loose the bomb he was so cute just smiling away in Momma's arms releasing some loud yet potient toxic gases. It was the smiling that was so cute.....It reminded me of the times my little buddy JK would have the same smile on his face as he would pass-out in the Hotel room releasing his toxic gases. Oh don't let me forget the toxic smell of JK after a 8 hr day in the sun racing Vics and spilling grog all over himself. So having a baby drool and burbing is nothing new to me.....lol......One thing daddy Eric failed to mention was where did my cat "Miller the Killer" run for cover during all this. I think she may of ran for the litter box as it was probably fresher than the house that day.......lol......But he is my God son and I could be prouder of him blowing his load with a smile........lol......lol......lol... Long live the Pirates! Capt. Jack

Boom-Vang Gregory has temporarily, maybe permanently, shut down the Seta boat works!!!! Earlier today a planned pirate raid was made on the Seta compound where the little guy released his toxic super weapon the moment he was picked up by Uncle Ray….lol. Gagging and laughing and in complete and total agony our little group took Mr. Will directly into the infamous Seta Boat Works Shop. While Ray was opening windows and setting up fans to air out his shop, Red-Beard cleared off a work table and laid out the changing pad.  In a coughing fit while hanging over a trash can Ray yelled out “watch out for the sails!!!”  As the diaper came off at least 10 sails were in reach of the toxic fire hose!  Laughing their heads off Red-Beard and his Pirate Chick wife made quick work of the noxious contaminant, double bagging and disposing in Ray’s outside trash can.  We expect this action will run off the hordes of wild pea-cocks that currently surround the Seta compound!  The trash man isn’t expected till Tuesday morning so we are currently waiting to hear of additional carnage as the smell begins to seep!!!!!!

Hey fellow pirates, hackers and I guess a few Dallas folks too.... As the Dallas pirate has pointed out we are just experiencing the calm before the publicity storm. Soon the breeze will start pumping the trees will start rolling and the rain and waves will be more than most can take!

Like most pirates I work for even bigger pirates who expect me to constantly run around the country robbing and lutting! This sometimes slows down my progress on the site but I'm back and the Frequency-Skippers page, Raffle page and Chili Cook-off pages will be updated real soon.

Keep checking back as we might even see the return of the great Ray Seta who has been hiding out licking wounds after his most resent defeat at the hands of Red-Beard at the Round Rock Regatta.

The dock gods have been good to us even thought the weather has not. I'll have new pictures to post on their progress soon.

Am I the only one still looking at this site? Have you all gone off and moved some where else? What has happened to all the banter about who can sail, who stinks, and who needs to put up or shut up? Well here it is September 8th, the days are counting down and the regatta is just over on the next page in the calendar. Less than 30 days away and I know people are trying to get sail time in. I hear the Woodlawn group has been sitting at the club house drinking an adult beverage or 5 and have been watching the crew build their new dock. I am sure all of the "helpful" suggestions they have been telling them have made the process go much faster! I'll keep posting every now and then. You all have fun where ever you are!

Well here we are the first day of September. The weather has finally started to cool off up here in the north part of Texas. Maybe we will be able to sail for more than 2 hours at a time! Get some pratice in before the Alamo Classic, and actually be ready to sail in just 37 days. There are still a couple of openings left in the line up. Most reading the Hacker Forum are probably already signed up, but you may know someone that has not done so. Get them out here! What better way to experience a regatta then to be at one of the best?

I too feel sorry for the poor old donkey...I hope the Houstonian's didn't hurt him while making their slanderous film! I used to think they were a nice church group lead by Father Mark…HA….boy was I lead a stray!

As far as the Dallas Pirate who told off our fearless Pirate leader for leaving him out of the Pirate line up…”good job by the way”…I have to say thank you for turning over your Pirate gold.  I enjoyed spending it immensely on my week long vacation to the Pirate festival in Toronto this week.  Oh' and I agree with your race assessment that "Ray Sucks"....

Actually the donkey suit has earned quite a bit of notoriety and is back hanging in the costume shop from which it was rented by the Houstonians and their now failed and exposed attempt to entrap the travelling daring duo. The paparazzi hired for the job of photographing the non-event are complaining of being hired by someone of English ancestory and paying them in old style English pound notes and warning them to "Dinna eat the haggus". They have been invited to the Classic where they will point out the scurvy dog that hired them to do his dirtywork. Also, the Houston Public Library wants their copy of PHOTO SHOP VIDEO EDITOR back. For shame.... stealing from a public institution that enlightens the minds of all, regardless of ethnic background.

DX6 are radios for the mentally and mechanically challenged. They only have them because they do not know how to change crystals! Wait I take that back. Just remembered I have one. Too much Rum I guess... DX6 radios are for the advanced skippers! You have to be able to read an operator's manual to set it up, you have to be able to read a screen to know what is happening (computer controled ...), and you have to remember which control does what! Plus you can look sharp as you can just say DX6 on the entry form and not have to worry about someone else taking your spot!

Skippers! Why spend the time and money on Larry's smooth deck option. We at Les Lacs are going to hold a special that we will do for free that weekend only! Bring your boat over without the mast or with the mast we don't care. We will not do the sanding of the hull like Larry. (That could get your boat outlawed) Instead we use body putty to bring the deck level up to smooth over those ridges. (No sanding involved that could get your boat thrown out!) In fact if you are ranked in the top 25 we will even go one step farther and fill in the cockpit area for you to really make the boat smooth. We guarantee your boat will be above minimum weight when we are done. No more having to add an extra battery or coins to bring it up to minimum! Just think, smooth lines, not having to worry about adding weight at weigh in. Oh and as an added bonus, your boat will just plain look faster as it heels over further than all of the other boats on the water! Chicks dig fast looking boats!

I have a 100' yellow jacket extension cord to wheel my JET 6x48" stand beltsander down to the dock so I can grind off the competition. I will sand their decks flat and take the whole 3.6 grams of material away making them all look illegal. Yar! of course it won't do anything but make the deck easier to paint (no bumps to mask over) but it freaks out the sea lawyers. We should make 'em all walk the plank anyway. After all... "It's only a vic!" double yar....

Personally I like bopping my fellow Pirates on the head with my antenna...especially if they get ahead of me which is usually achieved via cheating!!!! But don't worry Mr. Big-D Pirate...I'm having our technical guru install DX6 jammers that will be set off periodically to even the playing field...ha ha ha!!!

Eric - you may have to step in here and throw your weight around, wave your sword, or drink a beer. I have been in contact with all of those using a DX 6 and no one wants to change. Seems they like having to NOT worry about what frequency the other skippers are on. Is this cheating? Being able to not have to worry about radio hits, if you have the right crystals with you, or if your antenna will get in the way?

Mark - I will tell you a secret just because you are asking so nice. Do not freeze the chilli in a cast iron pot and then put it on a camp stove to heat. I think I won the most burned taste last year after doing that. Did not help that I had it so solid the ice was not even melted any since I put it into the ice chest on Friday morning and took it out late Saturday afternoon. Ok from here on out you are on your own.

Hey Mark, Last year we brought in everything already prepared and then reheated lake side using crockpots. Most competitors just brought one full pot and that more than met our needs. Our electrician and technical ground crew will make sure that adequate electricity and counter space is made available to all our Chili competitors. We will not have adequate space in our two refrigerators to accommodate your ingredients (the beer and soda take priority) therefore you will need your own ice chest and ice. If you end up next to me on the table make sure your Houston-grub doesn’t emit any foul airborne contaminants that would spoil the taste of my Premo Pirate Chili. Doing so will get you keelhauled!!!...lol. Red-Beard The Pirate

Ok, Ok…. Since I missed last year, what do I need to do to possibly enter into this Chili Cook-Off thing and represent Houston? How in the world do I prepare the chili? Do I prepare it lakeside or do I bring it already prepared and just need heating? If I bring already prepared and just needs heating, where can I store it when I come on Friday? How much do I bring or prepare for? So many questions, and yet so little answers. Lol.. Let me know and I may be involved as I guarantee that what I bring will wipe away the other competitors. There is no competition when I enter. Lol…. Good Sailing ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ _/) Mark

Hey folks, this is just a reminder that registration for the Alamo Classic Victoria Regatta starts tomorrow at 8pm (Central Standard Time). Our registration form is only available on the Woodlawn website and can be reached at http://www.woodlawnsailingclub.org/ACVRII/VNOR.htm You'll have to then click on the Registration Form link. We recommend that you print out the NOR for your records and quick reference while registering. Electronic Entries will be posted on the Frequency-Skippers web page within 48 hours, but not confirmed until paid. The electronic entry form will generate a confirmation page with a “send check to” information section on it. Print out the letter and enclose it with your check. Once we have received the check, - your mailed or electronic entry will be confirmed with date entry on the "Entries" page. Priority will be given first to valid AMYA members and then by Registration time and date. Please choose at least a primary and secondary frequency. If you do not have an alternative frequency pick "00". If you see Frequency conflicts, contact that skipper first and see if the two of you (or three) can work it out. E-mail address' will be linked to the registering skippers on the Entries page. We will try to eliminate all frequency conflicts with your help. If you have questions or experience problems using this registration form please e-mail egregory@satx.rr.com for assistance. Here is something new for the 2nd Annual Alamo Classic Victoria Regatta. In order to guarantee that top skippers get entry into this event, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place finishers of the 2005 Alamo Classic will be automatically registered with their preferred radio channel. So this years skippers that are automatically entered for the 2006 event are Ron Stephanz of Alabama, Charles Sudduth of Dallas, and John "JK" Kuc of Wayoutsville. That's not all, the 1st place finisher and reigning champion of the 2005 Alamo Classic will be allowed a FREE entry! And if getting a FREE entry wasn't enough to bring Ron Stephanz back, word is out that as the past Alamo Classic Champion he will be showered with affection by his peers, embarrassed by the Pirates of Woodlawn and have his favorite drink brought to him all weekend by a scantly clad girl Pirate. Best Regards, Eric Gregory a.k.a. Red-Beard The Pirate Regatta Chairman for the 2nd Annual Alamo Classic Victoria Regatta

OK, I finally got to see the Pirate Movie last night and now I'm trying to figure out how to get a giant Octopus to come up out of Woodlawn Lake and devour Capt. Jack (Ray Seta) and his Vic as the Finale of the Alamo Classic! Any ideas on how to make this work???

I don't see any problems tieing Ray to a pole and then pelting him with water mellons on day one. Any volunteers to help catch him and tie him up???

Hey JK, there's a 5 pack in it for ya if you dress up as a cannibal and chase Ray around with a spoon and fork at the Alamo Classic!!! We'll tie him up first to the pole and cover him with fruit...What do you say???

Man, this is going to be the best Regatta ever!!!!!!!

Ray has the most tricked out boat known to man (well, except for keel bolt stepped masts!) and he is talking about bringing 24 back? Surely the only 24 we should ever see is the hit Fox series! Say it ain't so, Ray!

O’ When will this lunacy end????? He’s mental I tell you and you’re just encouraging him! Can’t you see by the picture he’s posted at the bottom of this blog!!!! A good pirate changes his appearance frequently to throw off the Anti-Pirate Task Force (APTF). Now that my cover has been blown by pictures posted on the web I’ll be changing my hair style, hair and eye color, nose length, boat name and color, etc...to throw them off the trail. I plan to sneak up on the APTF at the Round The Rocks Regatta, give them a full broadside and then make off with the championship trophy!!! HeHe!! They won’t know what hit’em and they'll be shocked to see my Pirate Corvette streaking past them to take the victory at the finish line!

Larry, don't you remember? We elected Ray Commodore for Life or 10 years, which ever comes first. As virtual dictator and Pirate King he gets what ever he wants. Besides, it is a pretty piece of work...even if its rather slow!!!!

Ray, send that boat over to Gregory Boat Works...we'll fix your little performance problems for free just to advertise to the world our technical prowess.

When did Causins and Roberts move west of the Mississippi???? Last I heard they lived way back EAST in Yankee territory. Maybe Capt Jack's name should be Wrong Way Jack!!!! That would certainly explain his finishes at the last four major regatta's!!!!!! I'm not too sure its the boat...Give me a call Jack and I'll make you a deal that will help you get your since of direction back...HaHaHA!!!! Your Humble Servant, Davey

OK -OK Have your fun now, because the new JAck Sparrow will be turning up in Austin with all the cannons loaded. Meaning that every combination of my arsenial will be on hand. Meaning that #24 may be coming out of retirement. That's all I'm goinfg to say, but I WILL find the right combination by the Classic. Capt. Jack will not give up this easy....argh!!!!!! This is a Pirate's weekend!!!!!!! And also let me remind all the those skippers West of the Mississippi, ya'll are all scallywag hackers and need to pay the Pirate's tax to cross over. Especially you Causins and Roberts! I will get ya'll back for the Nationals "catchall" photo file! Matbe we need more shots of Robert's ugly/goofy pants.......lollll....argh! Capt. Jack

Come on Pirate Bob, the pictures identify at least 15 different reasons why the Pearl is so slow! You've only identified one. Try harder than that!!! Here are a couple that he's already figured out: (1.) Metal shrouds, are too heavy for the vic and create more windage than Capt. Jack anticipated. (2.) Sails are too heavy for light air. I'll let you figure out the other 12 go slow features of the Pearl. I'll just name a few not shown in the pictures. (1.) Bent Keel, (2.) Difficult Radio, and (3.) Poor Practice Habits, i.e. heads to the beer fridge every time he gets behind!

Hey Jack, want to win the Alamo Classic this year?  Give me a call.  I think we can come to a mutual agreement and get you back to your winning ways.....HA HA..!!!!

Press Release: Notice of Race to be released with Movie Release! As they say as one door closes, another shall open. Or in our case(Capt.Jack and his first mutt JK), one Tijuana jail cell door reluctantly opens! If you don't know what I mean, then you must of not kept. up with our(WSC's) up to the hour website Nationals coverage last week before Nationals. And just when we thought we were far enough North of the border and in the safe refuge of the Valley, out come local Bakersfield skipper and now Vic Nationals Champion, Chris Staiger, flashing his badge at us and threatening to fill a protest with the City for just letting us in......lol.......I had to throw that in! As usual Mr Eric Gregory, webmaster extraordinaire, push the envelope even further for Woodlawn this past week with his set-up and success of the first Voice Mail Updates for the Vic Nationals and insisted that myself and JK continue to test the system all week prior to the Nationals. 100% success for the website and overwhelming reactions from Vic skippers who couldn't make it to Nationals but could stay updated throughout the weekend....Thanks Eric! In keeping with tradition for the Woodlawn Sailing Club - AMYA #112, we have decided to implement some new things for this years 2nd Annual Alamo Classic Victoria Regatta on October 7-8. In order to guarantee that top skippers get entry into this event, we have announced that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place finishers of the 2005 Alamo Classic will be automatically registered with their preferred radio channel. That's not all, we will also allow for this event and future events that the Champion of the Classic from now on will have a FREE entry. So this years skippers that are automatically entered for the 2006 event is Ron Stephanz of Arkansas, Charles Sudduth of Dallas, and John "JK" Kuc of Wayoutsville. And if getting an FREE entry wasn't enough to bring Ron Stephanz back, word is out that as the past Alamo Classic Champion he will be showered with affection by his peers, embarrassed by the Pirates of Woodlawn and have his favorite drink brought to him all weekend by a scantly clad girl Pirate. This press release is also to announce that in keeping with our Pirates Of Woodlawn theme that we will be releasing the Notice of Race(NOR) and launching the 2nd Annual Alamo Classic Victoria Regatta website for this years event on JULY 7, 2006. This will correspond with the release date of the Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean movie this coming Friday. Everyone attending this regatta should be warned that there will be parts of the movie brought to life at Woodlawn. For example some say we should have a Voo-doo doll of Mr Stephanz for all to torture and dethrone as in the Movie....watch for it - it might just happen! Registration will begin on August 1st. This years event promise to be a full event so get in early. Host hotel arrangements have been made once again. Read the NOR carefully for all detailed information. And FYI.... Woodlawn has submitted a bid to the Victoria Class for a future Victoria Nationals. Remember 2003...it was the 1st Nationals sold out show!
